This place is home away from home. Just 40 mins east from Edinburgh it's got everything you could ever need. Right by the sea, walks everywhere and beautiful bakeries, coffee places and delis. It's where my family lives and is the perfect wee town to visit.

Our daily routine was brekkie at home then out for a walk to coffee at the local roastery, Steampunk. This beautiful roastery/cafe is constantly packed with people, inside and out, serving coffee and freshly baked scones, muffins and a simple cheese toastie. They have some single origin beans I'm gunning to try and are stocked up with the latest sustainable and reusable gadgets. It sits in an old warehouse that was once a joinery workshop but it now home to this beautiful roastery. The people working there are always lovely to chat to and the service is fantastic.

Another one we discovered this time around is a place up near Tantallon Castle called 'Drift'. This cafe is built out of 4 shipping containers and is cladded with a nice wood around the outside. As you walk in you are greeted by a breath taking view out of 3 huge windows of the Bass Rock, where thousands of gannets call home over the summer. The space is hung with beautiful lighting and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The date scones were to die for...

North Berwick is a classic seaside town with a lovely community and is a bustling tourist destination during the summer. My Dad's family have lived here for centuries and I feel very at home whenever we visit. Perhaps one day we'll set up here for a while.
